    Nassau investigators have subpoenaed a former Nassau bank manager's credit card records in hopes of finding out how he spent most of the more than $1 million he is accused of stealing.

    William Brahe Jr., who lives in East Meadow, was arrested last week and charged with felony grand larceny and falsifying business records.

    Prosecutors say that between 2001 and late 2007, the former manager of Chase Bank's Carle Place branch made hundreds of illegal transactions, moving a total of $1,022,900 from customer accounts into a business account he opened.

    I charge virtually everything on my credit card - groceries, gas, subscriptions, clothing, gifts, etc. I pay no annual fee. I pay no finance charges because I check my balance online and pay it in full before the due date. I get air miles with no restrictions. The card issuer checks my account for suspicious charges, and sends me an annual printout at tax time and numerous mailings during the year. I'm curious to know how it benefits them to keep me as a customer. I can't quite believe that I'm getting something for nothing.

    You're right: You aren't getting these lavish perks for nothing. The credit card company is making plenty of money on your account. It's just not coming out of your pocket.
